PET CT Screening
PET/CT Screening is an advanced imaging package in Malaysia designed to support early cancer detection and provide a comprehensive view of the body in a single examination. PET/CT combines positron emission tomography and computed tomography to help identify abnormal metabolic activity and structural changes that may require further medical evaluation.
Available at Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, this package is suitable for individuals with cancer risk factors such as family history or lifestyle-related risks, as well as those who want a comprehensive health check-up for early cancer detection. PET/CT screening may help detect cancer at an earlier stage, sometimes before symptoms appear, supporting timely medical follow-up and better health planning.
Why Consider PET/CT Screening?
Cancer may develop silently, and some cancers may not show obvious symptoms in the early stages. PET/CT screening can help detect abnormal changes earlier by providing both functional and structural information about the body in one scan. This may support earlier medical review, further diagnostic planning, and more informed health decisions.
PET/CT screening may be useful for individuals who want a more comprehensive cancer screening approach, especially those with risk factors such as family history, lifestyle risks, or previous health concerns. It can help doctors assess whether further tests, monitoring, or specialist consultation may be needed.
Who May Benefit from PET/CT Screening?
You may consider this package if you:
- Want a comprehensive cancer screening examination
- Have a family history of cancer
- Have lifestyle-related cancer risk factors
- Want early cancer detection before symptoms appear
- Prefer a full-body imaging approach in a single examination
- Have been advised by a doctor to consider PET/CT screening
- Want a proactive approach to long-term health planning
How PET/CT Screening Supports Early Detection
PET/CT combines two types of imaging. PET helps detect areas of increased metabolic activity, while CT provides detailed structural images of the body. Together, these images can help doctors identify suspicious areas that may need further evaluation.
What is PET/CT Screening?
PET/CT Screening is an advanced imaging examination that combines PET and CT scan technology to assess metabolic activity and body structures. It may help detect abnormal changes that require further medical evaluation.
Why is PET/CT used for cancer screening?
PET/CT may help detect cancer at an earlier stage before symptoms appear and provides a comprehensive view of the body in a single examination.
Who should consider PET/CT Screening?
PET/CT Screening may be suitable for individuals with cancer risk factors, such as family history or lifestyle-related risks, and those who want a comprehensive health check-up for early cancer detection.
Can PET/CT Screening diagnose cancer?
No. PET/CT can detect suspicious findings, but it cannot confirm cancer on its own. Further tests, biopsy, or specialist assessment may be needed to confirm a diagnosis.
What is the difference between PET and CT?
PET shows metabolic activity in the body, while CT provides detailed anatomical images. When combined, PET/CT gives doctors both functional and structural information.
Is PET/CT suitable for everyone?
Not always. Suitability depends on individual health condition, risk factors, medical history, and doctor’s assessment.
