The Total Knee Replacement Package at Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is designed for international patients who require surgical treatment for severe knee pain, advanced knee arthritis, or reduced mobility caused by knee joint damage. Total knee replacement, also known as knee arthroplasty, replaces the damaged parts of the knee joint with implants to help improve movement, reduce pain, and support better quality of life.
Sunway Orthopaedic Centre offers two package options for single knee replacement: Single Knee Conventional and Single Knee Robotic. The conventional knee replacement approach is a standard surgical technique, while the robotic-assisted option supports greater precision in implant positioning and surgical planning. The most suitable option depends on the patient’s knee condition, mobility needs, overall health, and orthopaedic surgeon’s recommendation.
Why Consider Total Knee Replacement?
Severe knee pain can affect walking, standing, climbing stairs, sleep quality, and daily independence. For some patients, knee pain may improve with medication, injections, physiotherapy, or lifestyle changes. However, when knee arthritis or joint damage becomes advanced and non-surgical treatment no longer provides enough relief, total knee replacement may be recommended.
Total knee replacement aims to reduce pain, improve mobility, and help patients return to daily activities with greater comfort. At Sunway Medical Centre, patients can discuss both conventional and robotic-assisted knee replacement options with the orthopaedic team to understand which approach best fits their condition and recovery goals.
Who May Benefit from Total Knee Replacement?
You may consider consulting an orthopaedic specialist if you:
- Have severe knee pain that affects daily activities
- Have advanced knee osteoarthritis or joint degeneration
- Experience stiffness, swelling, or reduced knee movement
- Have difficulty walking, climbing stairs, or standing for long periods
- Have knee pain that continues despite medication, injections, or physiotherapy
- Want to understand whether conventional or robotic knee replacement is suitable
- Are looking for knee replacement surgery in Malaysia with specialist orthopaedic care
What is total knee replacement?
Total knee replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces damaged parts of the knee joint with artificial implants. It is commonly performed for patients with severe arthritis or knee joint damage that causes pain and limits movement.
Who should consider total knee replacement?
This procedure may be suitable for patients with severe knee pain, advanced osteoarthritis, reduced mobility, stiffness, or knee symptoms that do not improve with non-surgical treatment.
What is the difference between conventional and robotic knee replacement?
Conventional knee replacement uses standard surgical techniques. Robotic knee replacement uses robotic-assisted technology to support surgical planning and more precise implant positioning. The orthopaedic specialist will advise which option is more suitable based on the patient’s condition.
